Q&A

Why laces instead of velcro?

Velcro loosens with sweat and shifts every time you land clean. Laces spread tension across your entire wrist, so the glove locks to your hand and your wrist stays aligned on impact. It's the same reason every pro boxing glove is laced. No readjusting between rounds.

Why real cowhide leather instead of synthetic?

Because real cowhide molds to your hand, lasts years longer and grips better than any synthetic. Most glove brands use synthetic leather because it's cheaper to produce. Cowhide breaks in, seals to your hand and gets better with every session instead of cracking and falling apart.

How do I put laced gloves on by myself?

For light sparring sessions you can simply tuck the laces under. Most of our fighters use the Lace Converters we sell on the site: they lock your laces down in seconds and hold you in just as tight. For hard pad work, private sessions or heavy bag rounds, it's still best to have a teammate lace you up, boxing style.

Can I hit the heavy bag and spar in them?

Yes. They're built for full MMA training: bag work, pads, sparring and grappling transitions. The layered knuckle padding protects your hands under repeated impact, and the open palm keeps your grip game intact.

Can I grapple with them?

Absolutely. The open palm design leaves your fingers free to shoot, clinch, frame and grab wrists. They're designed for MMA, and grappling is half of MMA.

Will the laces scratch my opponent?

Absolutely not. The laces are soft cotton, and a string of cotton is far less likely to scratch your partner than a rigid velcro strap and its hard plastic edges. Tuck them under or lock them with a Lace Converter and nothing is exposed.

Will the size fit?

Yes. Yibuko gloves come in one universal size on purpose: the lacing system tightens the glove to your exact hand shape, so the same pair locks onto a smaller hand or a bigger hand with the same custom tension. That adjustable fit is exactly what laces are for.

Do I still wear wraps under them?

For hard bag work and hard pad work, yes, wraps are recommended. For sparring, don't wear wraps.

How do I clean them?

Wipe the inside and outside with an antibacterial wipe or a lightly damp cloth after training, then let them air dry fully, away from direct sun. Never soak them or machine wash them. Once a month, rub a thin layer of Vaseline into the leather: it keeps the cowhide supple and intact for years.
